ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The prospective Varna medical student applicant have to submit the following documents on time:
- Varna medical university application form including brief biographical data, educational history and the courses for which the student are applying;
- Copy of Diploma (certificate) of completed secondary education and an academic transcript stating the disciplines studied;
- Document issued by relevant authorities, certifying the right to continue education in higher schools and universities in the country of origin of the secondary school attended by the applicant student;
- Medical certificate issued not earlier than one month prior to application;
- Four 4/5 cm photographs (passport size);
- University transcripts (only for medical transfer students);
The diploma, academic transcripts, medical certificate and document certifying the right to continue education in higher schools must be translated into Bulgarian and legalized according to official state directives.
The applicant students must sit for a basic Biology and Chemistry entry test (high school level). The admission to medical university of Varna is based on the Biology and chemistry test results, highs school grades in Biology and chemistry and the average of high school grades.

LIFE AS A STUDENT IN VARNA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

MEDICAL PROGRAM (M.D.)
Varna medical university M.D. program is a six year medical program designed for high school graduate students with good command of English and solid base in biology and chemistry (high school level).
The six year medical program at Varna medical university is divided in 3 parts:
Preclinical studies (theoretical training): first two years of medical school includes an overview of fundamental or basic science courses: first year is devoted to general understanding of biological, chemical and physical sciences applicable to the practice of medicine; second year focus progressively narrows down, channeling the studies towards those biomedical sciences that are most relevant for a practicing physician. The theoretical training of the course of studies is conducted by obligatory, optional and facultative disciplines, in form of lectures, seminars, practical exercise and self-training.
Clinical studies: examine the application of the biomedical sciences mastered during the first two years of medical school. The theoretical training of the course of studies is conducted by obligatory, optional and facultative disciplines, in form of lectures, seminars, practical exercise and self-training.
Internship in the hospital: last year of medical studies has exclusively practical purposes. During the last year, students work under the direct guidance of the assistants and instructors with high academic positions in the clinics. Final assessment of six year medical program at Varma medical university by the State Examination Board Committees at comprehensive theoretical and practical state examinations leads to Master’s degree along with the professional qualification “physician”- Doctor of Medicine. A European supplement to the medical Diploma issued in English language is also provided to the medical graduates upon graduation.
DENTISTRY
Dental medicine at Varna medical university is a six year medal program available both in English and in Romanian. The dental medical program covers ten semesters and pre-graduation practice after the 10th semester (135 working days or 1080 hours) including two training practices of 30 calendar days duration (after the sixth and the eighth semester- each training covers 150 hours).

- Clinical and medical training: from second to tenth semester and includes specialized training in general medical and clinical disciplines. Practical training is conducted by practical studies during the semester training, training practices and pre-graduation practice. The practical instruction of students includes specific volume of practical therapeutic activity. This knowledge forms the basis for understanding the wide variety of diseases that a dentist must diagnose and treat; it also forms the foundation for the effective practice of preventive dentistry
- Pregraduation internship: last year of medical studies has exclusively practical purposes. During the last year, students work under the direct guidance of the assistants and instructors with high academic positions in the clinics. The dental medicine at Varna medical university leads to the professional qualification of “Master of Doctor in Dental Medicine” and education and qualification degree “Master”. Master of Doctor in Dental Medicine along with European supplement to the Diploma of completed higher education, issued in English language, provided to graduates of the program upon graduation enables the holder to practice dental medicine in EU/EEA countries and beyond.
